Open for the 2024 season from March until September

Shop directly from our perennial beds or our well-stocked rose greenhouse. The gardens are something to see when they get going, so bring your camera and a picnic if you’d like.

Come and see the tiny wedding chapel right next to the main rose garden. It might just be the world’s smallest chapel, although I suppose that’s inviting someone to make an even smaller one! If you’re interested in planning vows, renewals or wedding photos, check our info page here:

Make a day of it! The areas around Nicomen Island are packed with fun activities and sights to see. Here are some of our recommendations of things to do in the area.

Satisfied customers!

If you didn’t happen to pack food or drinks, we’ve stocked up on a few of the basics: hot and cold beverages, frozen treats and bagged snacks. For those who have travelled some distance to get here, we’ve added a rather makeshift washroom as well.

We’ve placed some directional signage and wood chip paths to guide your way around the farm. We’re also actively adding plants to the inventory – most propagated and grown right here from the farm, and also a few we’ve added in support of other local growers.

Our landscape changes throughout the season. The beautiful red horse-chestnut tree you’ll see in the next picture blooms ahead of the main flush of modern roses, but matches well with the species and Scots’ roses (usually in mid May).

Peak rose flowering is generally in mid-June, although it can happen a little earlier or later depending on spring temperatures. We display our roses in mixed plantings with perennials and other shrubs. The one constant is the beautiful backdrops of the island and surrounding mountains.

We’re located on beautiful Nicomen Island. It’s a ten minute drive east of Mission on the Highway 7. For those who haven’t come out this way, it’s worth the drive for the scenery alone. The island is between the main branch of the Fraser River on the south and the Nicomen Slough on the north. It’s also tucked in between the Dewdney, Nicomen and Sumas peaks. Most times of the year, you’ll find cars pulled off the side of the road along this stretch of the highway because of the great fishing, or because the travelers have caught sight of bald eagles and other wildlife along the slough.

As you wrap up your visit, we’ll send you off through our informal “gift shop” where you can find dried flower petals, tools & fertilizer, rose scented soap and two varieties of genuine rose water. Or select a greeting card with photography from around the farm

We’ll readily admit: it’s a work in progress, but we’ve come a long way in the last year with the support of our customers and visitors (both real-life and virtual!). If you’d like to support our “hidden gem” of a nursery, tucked away on Nicomen island, a great way to bolster our efforts is the spread the word.
